Chhattisgarh government has launched Sanchar Kranti Yojana through which the government is set to distribute over 45 lakh smartphone to people below poverty level and students. The government has floated a tender earlier and Micromax and Jio have been qualified for the project. Now, over 2500 temporary staff have been selected to distribute the phones and activating with Aadhar.
The devices being given to women have a configuration of 4-inch display, 1GB RAM/8GB internal memory, while the handsets given to students feature a 5-inch display and 2GB RAM/16GB internal memory.
The move is expected to deliver digital inclusion, e-Governance and faster economic development in Chhattisgarh
