Hindustan Power Projects to set up 2 x660 MW power project at Birra

Hindustan Power Projects (formerly known as Moser Baer Infrastructure & Power) is setting up 2×660 MW coal based thermal power plant in Birra in Janjgir-Champa district of Chhattisgarh. Land required for the project is around 1050 acres had been acquired in the villages of Birra, Siladehi and Gatwa.

Chhattisgarh Water Resource Department has allotted 36 MCM of water annually from Mahanadi River and the drawal point will be 20 km away from proposed Mironi Barrage.

Coal is proposed to be transported through Indian Railways network from SECL source to Champa
Railway Station (Rs.) and then to site through dedicated railway siding (to be constructed)
