Mahagenco has secured a mining lease for its Gare Pelma II coal block in Raigarh district, in the state of Chhattisgarh. The coal block contains a total coal reserve of 1,059 tonne, of which 656 tonne is extractable. The capacity of Gare Pelma II is 50 million tpa. It will meet the company’s coal requirement for the next 30 years. The company will now commence the land acquisition process for the mine, which is spread over 2,589 ha of land, covering 14 villages.
